To be contacted all day (9.a.m. to 9 p.m.) concerning puppies and adult Rotweilers.
Recommendation of the breeders couple: Generally the puppy should be picked up by the new owner at the breeders place accompanied by a
second person. Already the trip towards the new home is determining the puppy for its whole life. If possible this should happen in a time when the new owner can pay much attention towards the new member
in its new home. Please make as many efforts as possible for the little dog within the first days, which will be worthwhile for its following life. There is a saying which also applies for the little
puppy: "What is not learned as a boy, is never learnt being a man."
Take the puppy outside very often to free natural areas within the first days and choose a suitable place, so he can leave
his droppings. Avoid side walks or the front yard of your neighbours, since it´s hard to get rid of following disagreements.
Feeding of the puppy: The puppy should be fed 4 times a day. Our puppies got raw meet, dried puppy milk, dry food und can
food for dogs. From 14th to 16 th week of life you should change to 3 meals a day.
The new owner of the puppy is supported by us with some food, so the puppy does not have to be used to a
new food brand right away.
Our puppies got the puppy food of the company Voss, http://www.meradog.com, from Kevelar, it´s called „Prestart“. It´s
also known as „Mera Dog“. The puppy milk we got from the very same company. The puppies like fresh meet very much, but not each new owner is able to feet the little dog with meet. Out of this reason we
also used can food. Basically the feeding dish and food remains should be removed immediately after the feeding. So you save your dog any unnecessary diseases, and you will have a good food converter
rather than a moody eater.
Additional calcium: We recommend to provide the puppy by one calcium pill twice a day „Calcipot D3“ or similar products, in
additon to the normal food. This is a medicine made for human kids and the young dogs like it very much. In the age of 4 to 6 months you should increase the dose to two pills twice a day. From half a
year to a year of age the dose should be reduced again to the original one (two pills per day).
After that you can stop the calcium application. Especially in the age of 4 to 6 months of age, the time
of teetheing, the puppy requires additional calcium. Which vaccinations were applied to the puppy? He was vaccinated against distemper, hepatitis, leptspirosis and parvovirus in an age of 7.5 weeks.When
he is 11.5 weeks old you should repeat these vaccinations. Now it´s the right time to check whether you live in an area where rabies exists. Please contact your veterinarian. He will advise you
about rabies and other vaccinations.
Worm treatment: The puppies are regularly dewormed against roundworms (ascarides). Please repeat this in an age of 10 and 12
weeks. Another treatment should be implemented in the age of half a year. You get more information by the companies which produce these medicines.

Rottweiler-Klub e.V. (ADRK)", registered in Minden, is the only breeding club for Rottweilers, being recognized by the "Verband für das Deutsche Hundewesen e.V. (VDH)" (German Kennel
Club). It takes care of all your questions concerning the Rottweiler. Take the chance to become a member there and in addition in a regional group (Bezirksgruppe) near your place. For further information

Hip (HD) and elbow dysplasia (ED), Breed suitability test, companion dog test
In an age of 15 months your dog should be examined for hip and elbow dysplasia. The X-rays should be rated by the ADRK.
Being 18 months old your dog can pass the breed suitability test, in case he has passed a companion dog test before. Additional information is found in he ADRK booklets.
The companion dog includes correct behaviour of the dog in the public area. The test is carried out by a Bezirksgruppe of the ADRK. Information concerning such a Bezirksgruppe may requested by us: Paul.Fleige@t-online.de or at the ADRK.
